How To Connect? (SFTP Instruction)
The homepage root file must be called index.html, and all files have to upload into public_html directory in your account. Depending on your OS the following are instructions for uploading files using appropriate softwares:
Setting up SFTP in Dreamweaver 8
Setting up SFTP in FileZilla (Windows users)
Setting up SFTP in Fetch (Macintosh users)
To set up Dreamweaver 8 for both windows and mac users
1. Select "Site" from the top menu
2. Select "New Site..." from the menu
3. At the top of the page, select the "Advanced" tab
4. On the left of the window, select "Remote Info"
5. Set Web Access to "FTP"
6. FTP host: public.homepages.uconn.edu
7. Host directory: public_html
8. Enter your UserID and password.
9. Check "Use secure FTP (SFTP)".
10. Click OK.
1. Download filezilla
2. After installing filezilla, enter
- For on-campus useres:
Address: sftp://public.homepages.uconn.edu
User: UserID provided by UITS
Password: Password
click on Quick Connect.
- For off-campus useres:
The address is sftp://homepages.uconn.edu and the port number is 3501.
1. Go to this link and download Fetch. It is notable that it is downloadable in UCONN network. Depends on mac version, the appropriate Fetch should be downloaded, Fetch 3 for OS 9.0 , Fetch 4 for OS X 10.1-10.3, and Fetch 5 for OS X 10.4+. You also need the fetch.txt file for corresponding license.
2. After installing, enter these infromation:
Hostname: public.homepages.uconn.edu
User: UserID provided by UITS
Connect Using: SFTP
Password: Password
click on Connect.
