Objective of Pledging
The general objective is to identify students who will accept the principles of Alpha Phi Omega and prepare them for active membership in the fraternity. The pledge program consists of opportunities for the brothers and pledges to get to know one another and to develop the pledge’s sense of and involvement with leadership, friendship and service.
No Hazing Policy
A well-designed pledge program has no place for any types of hazing practices. Pledges will not be subjected to any type of personal degradation, personal service demands, dangerous activities, or any other practices incompatible with the spirit and principles of Alpha Phi Omega. If a pledge at any time feels uncomfortable with anything that is being asked of them, he/she is to contact either the Pledgemaster, Chapter President, Section Liaison or Section Chair
Pledge Requirements
Alpha Phi Omega is open to any undergraduate student, male or female, regardless of age,
religion or sexual orientation that is enrolled on a campus where a chapter exists and
who is approved for membership by that chapter.
Individual pledge requirements:
Each pledge will complete fifteen (15) hours of community service. At least one (1) hour must be completed in each of the four fields of service. At least twelve hours of the original fifteen hours must be obtained through service projects with the chapter. No more than five (5) hours from any single project may be counted towards the pledge’s initial fifteen (15) hours. However, after the initial fifteen is achieved, all hours may be counted.
*Each pledge will meet with and obtain the signature of each active and advisor brother of the chapter.
*Each pledge will make a pledge paddle for their big brother.
*
Each pledge will wear the fraternity pledge pin at all times with the exception of times so designated by the chapter.
*
Each pledge will attend one Sunday night e-board meeting.
*
Each pledge will meet with their Big Brother twice a week. One of these meetings can be Tuesday at the Chapter Meeting.
*Each pledge will attend Sunday night pledge meetings and Tuesday night brotherhood meetings, unless excused by the Pledgemaster or Recording Secretary
*The Brotherhood recognizes that Alpha Phi Omega is not for everyone. During the course of the pledge period, a pledge or the Brotherhood may decide that the pledge’s best interests no longer coincide with Alpha Phi Omega. In that event, the pledge may be separated from pledging.* |
