Victor Santos is a junior at the University of Connecticut hoping to pursue a journalism career in the “sports world.” He is currently 20 years old and was born in Bridgeport, CT, a city approximately 30 minutes east of New York City.
Though never truly interested in writing as a high school student, his passion for sports writing was discovered when reading a column always featured in Sports Illustrated by Rick Reilly. Thus, his decision to be a journalism and communications major was a result. He is a full-time student, with a part time job at CVS and takes a big part in the intramural community at his school.
Victor has two younger sisters and lives with a single mother at home. His family is originally from Ponce, Puerto Rico. Now they reside in Connecticut.
At home he volunteers as an umpire for little league and an assistant coach for upward bound basketball. He also substitute teaches at his high school.
During his spring breaks at school he has driven to both Myrtle Beach in South Carolina and Key West, FL. He has also traveled to St. Martin, a small island in the Carribbean.
Victor enjoys working out, playing and learning sports, watching ESPN, eating, and hanging out with friends. He writes for both, the sports section of The Daily Campus, and UC Sport, a sports show for his school’s UCTV.
