About Alex Zurita
Currently a student at the University of Connecticut, Alex Zurita is a 5th semester Junior. He is currently unsure of what degree he wishes to achieve but is look to get a Communication and Journalism Degree.
Originally wanting to be an engineer, Alex quickly decided that was not his true calling after a few attempts at calculus. It was his participation in the university's yearbook that sparked his interests in journalism. Beginning as just an activity his freshman Alex quickly fell in love with what he was doing. He rose quickly being promoted only after 1 month Alex moved from a section editor to the photography editor. His sophomore year he became the youngest person elected to the job of Assistant Editor-in-Chief at the Nutmeg Yearbook. This year he was put in charge of the whole organization by being elected to Editor-in-Chief.
Along with his job of Editor-in-Chief, he has had the privilege to sit on a few very important councils at the university including, the Student Union Policy Council and The Vice President of Student Affairs Student Leadership Council.
Alex is also an active member of the Connecticut "PRIDE" Chapter of the Delta Chi Fraternity. He became involved with the chapter at the Storrs campus after his friend introduced him to a few of the brothers one night.
Since June of 2007 Alex has worked for ESPN in Bristol, CT. He has worked on the technical side of the cable network for their Infrastructure Systems Engineering group. He hopes to return to the company next June but instead work for ESPN the Magazine and pursue aspirations of working for a major publishing company.
Alex currently resides at his father's home in Woodbury, CT but spent all of his childhood in what he considers his true home, New Milford, CT.
